As AI becomes more common, startups are focusing on building their brands to gain consumer trust. To attract customers, AI startups like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Perplexity are using traditional marketing strategies that aim to connect emotionally with people. This year, OpenAI launched its first major brand campaign for ChatGPT, and Anthropic introduced its first campaign for its AI chatbot, Claude. Similarly, Perplexity released its first ad featuring a celebrity in March. These campaigns use storytelling, emotional messages, and cultural partnerships—techniques common in advertising but new to AI startups. This change shows that AI companies are growing and facing more competition. In just a few years, some AI startups have reached very high valuations, with OpenAI valued at $324 billion, Anthropic at $178 billion, and three-year-old Perplexity at $20 billion as of September, according to Forge Global data.
The horror character Frankenstein's monster had a fun weekend after discovering the internet. Comcast's Xfinity brand teamed up with Universal Pictures and Universal Parks to give a new twist to the classic story. They created a platform called "Imagine That," which recreates Dr. Frankenstein's medieval lab, similar to the "Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment" ride at Epic Universe's Dark Universe. A 2-minute ad, made by Goodby Silverstein & Partners and directed by Lance Acord, shows Dr. Frankenstein's monster coming to life using Xfinity's WiFi.
